The Daily Face

I've finally gotten round to writing another post! I have no excuse, I'm just terrible. I thought I'd share with you something makeup related for my return! These are the products I find I've been using on a day to day basis, I've even been wearing them for nights out recently. It's a quick and simple makeup look, perfect for getting ready in 5 minutes in the morning and a great day to night look by just adding some lippy and heavier eye shadow. Also excuse the dirty brushes, I am ashamed to admit I've not washed them for quite some time.

The Base

For primer, I've been using the Benefit POREfessional for last 18 months (can you believe this is still the same tube.
Foundation has been Rimmel Match perfection for quite some time now. I love that it's so long lasting and (with a quite top up of powder) it doesn't leave my skin looking greasy at the end of the day.
The Nars radiant creamy concealer has been a staple in my beauty box for a while. In fact, I don't think I own another concealer. It's not too heavy under my eyes and is the perfect shade to cover and redness and spots!
The Bourjois Healthy balance powder is new to my collection, I've only had it for about a week but initial thoughts are good and I think it'll become a firm favorite.
It's Bourjois again for Bronzer, the perfect bronze for my skin tone. I'm not big into contouring at the moment (mainly because I'm not very good at it) but I use an angled brush with this and apply it to my cheeks and temples.
The Nars blush in Orgasm is perfect for time of year, it gives my cheeks the pinky just got in from the cold love that I love!

Eyes

I've started to use the Soap and Glory Archery for my eyebrows. I'd previously been using the eyelure kit and a small brush but I prefer the way the Archery makes my brows look full and more natural.
I have a love hate relationship with eyeliner, I can never apply it properly, I find I have to pull my eyelid taught otherwise it'll look a mess and recent eyeliners has either smudges or flaked. The Rimmel Exaggerate eye liner was the first I ever used and I always find myself going back it.
For eye shadow primer, I've begun using the Rimmel Exaggerate primer. I bought in a spur of the moment 3 for 2 in Boots and I'm not 100%. I have rather greasy eyelids so if I don't pile on the eye shadow it begins to crease and if I'm honest, this does nothing to stop that.
On days when I do decide to wear eye shadow I simply do a quick swipe over the lid with a couple of shades from the Naked Basics palette. My favourites to used are a mixture of Naked 2 and Faint.
Mascara is currently Maybelline the Rocket. It does add the slightest bit of volume but nothing too dramatic.

Well this was a long post for my first one back. What are some of your day to day basics?

Review // L'Oreal Miss Manga Mega Volume Waterproof Mascara

When the L'Oreal Miss Manga mascara range was released I wasn't all that interested. I thought it was a gimmick, it promised to give users the wide eyed look of girls in Manga comics. After seeing Viviannadoesmakeup wearing it in a couple of videos I couldn't resist picking it up.

As I'm going to Portugal (tomorrow!) I decided to get the Mega Volume waterproof. The packaging is incredibly cute with a bright pink lid that stands out from the rest of L'Oreal mascaras. Your eyes are simply draw to it.

The wand is very flexible and light. Due to this the first application felt strange as I usually go for a more robust wand. After a few uses though I certainly got into the swing of using a more flexible brush. I like to apply it by starting at the base of my lashes and moving upwards in a zigzag motion.

Whilst the mascara did make my eyelashes look slightly longer, it did nothing to help with volume which was the one thing I was hoping for. A second coating did help slightly, however it soon began to looking clumpy and just messy in general.

Am I love with it? No. However the ease of application makes me very fond of it and I will definitely be using it whilst on holiday (lets test out these waterproof claims!).

A Few days in Son Bou, Menorca

A couple of weeks ago I took a little trip with my boyfriend (Charlie), his sister and her boyfriend to Menorca. Charlie's father has a villa on the island and were kind enough to invite out for a few days.

Unfortunately I didn't take many pictures whilst I was out there; I was just far to relaxed to remember however the ones I did take (on my Iphone) I decided to share with you.

Having never been to Menorca before I was pleasantly surprised at how beautiful the island actually was. Despite being August, it wasn't over crowed with tourists and wasn't uncomfortably hot. This is the view from our balcony; waking up next to this each and every morning was pure bliss.

On the last day the entire family took a long walk to another resort on the island for a bite to eat. We walked along the whole of the beach (including a nudist section!) and through some rocky farmland. The landscape was truly breathtaking and I'm pretty sure I annoyed Charlie a few times by simply stopping to take it all in.

Suffice to say, the mini break at the beginning of this month was just what I needed and I came home feeling incredibly relaxed and ready for work! I'm lucky enough to be heading to Portugal at the beginning of September so I'll be sharing my time there again (hopefully in more detail and with more pictures!)

Review // Eyeko Skinny Liner

On this months round of magazine purchases I got a little extra with Glamour. The Eyeko Skinny liner was this months magazine freebie and, as an eye liner lover, I was quite excited to try it.

The skinny liner is a felt tipped liquid liner with a no smudge formula that certainly delivers. Once applied to my lids it dried almost immediately and did not smudge throughout the day. The felt tip is very precise, which for those of you who has trouble applying eye-liner, is perfect for a quick and easy effect.

I found because of this stiff tip if you were to want a simple thin line for an everyday look, it can become quite fiddly but if it's the winger liner effect you want it's perfect.

Overall, I really enjoyed this product and for those days I want a a winged effect, this will be my go to product. At £12 RRP, I'll definitely be purchasing a new one when my freebie runs dry.

Review // Charles Worthington Volume Bounce

Photo - Lucy Browning

Despite having quite thick hair that is naturally wavy, it lacks volume and texture so I thought it was time I give it a little extra help and after seeing the Charles Worthington Volume and Bounce Texturising Spray (£5.99) pop up in so many blogs and YouTube videos I decided to pick it up at the weekend in the hopes of getting the red carpet look is promises to deliver.
And deliver it does. Volume and text for a fraction of the price on it's high street counterparts. What more would you possibly want.
Unfortunately I find it does leave a tacky residue throughout the day, which may be wonderful for some people as it acts more like hairspray, but as my hair can get quite greasy quickly t can become a bit of a problem.
Definitely does exactly what it says on the tin (it also smells great bonus!) but because of the residue it wont be something I reach for on daily basis.
What are some of your favourite volumising sprays?

Currently Watching // Television

I'm a media student so it should come as no great surprise that I'm addicted to television and film. The summer can be pretty hard because all my favourite shows are in between seasons.
I usually use this time to do a little digging and decide what shows I plan to binge watch while home for the summer. Here I'd like to share some of favourite shows at the moment.

1 // Game Of Thrones

Was there going to be any other answer? This coming Monday will mark the last episode of series four and I'm devastated. Every single episode has had me on the edge of my seat and bawling my eyes out. This series seems to have gone by so quickly and I am already excited for what next year brings.

2 // Orange is the new black

After seeing a poster for the upcoming second season as well as all the rave reviews for OISTNB I decided it might be worth getting Netflix and giving this show a go. Well I can tell you I finished the first series within two days ready for the second and i'm already half way through. Netflix and Binging, perfect match.

3 // The 100

This is a completely new show for me. After trailing through YouTube with Charlie (Boyfriend) we decided to give this futuristic post apocalypse show a go and I'm glad we did. I'm a sucker for all things sci-fi and this fits the bill, think The Hunger Games but somehow even sexier.

So those are the TV I'm currently watching, I guarantee within week there will be a completely new line up on a television screen. I hope you've enjoyed an insight into my little world and how I'll be spending the majority of my summer at home.
